Summerween 2026: Alternate picks if you missed out on Spirit Halloween's 'Terrifier' drop
The pools are barely open, but Spirit Halloween has already rolled out the "Summerween" 2026 goods with its new "Terrifier"-themed collection featuring the scariest clown in town, Art -- and it sold out in less than 24 hours.
Officially celebrated on June 22, the niche holiday originated with an episode of Cartoon Network's "Gravity Falls" way back in 2012. But the "Summerween" craze really got going a few years back, with content creators, collectors, and other Halloween enthusiasts looking for ways to get a head start on their favorite holiday as stores started rolling out their seasonal stock earlier and earlier.
Social media helped propel interest in Summerween in the early 2020s and spurred on retailers to create more specific decor and party supplies featuring tropical takes on traditional Halloween motifs like ghosts, skeletons, coffins and more. Now, plenty of places are rolling out the goods early: Kirklands, Spirit Halloween, Pottery Barn, Home Depot and more have already launched plenty of Halloween merch, some of it summer-oriented and some more traditional.
