Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and kids arrive in UK for extended stay
Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, have landed in the United Kingdom to begin their extended stay in Harry's home country, according to multiple U.K. news outlets.
A plane reported to be carrying Harry, Meghan and their two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, landed Wednesday in Birmingham, according to The Telegraph, which published a photo of the reported plane.
The BBC was the first to report the Sussex family's return to the U.K. on Wednesday.
A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan declined to comment to ABC News.
The Sussexes have lived in Montecito, California, since 2020, when Harry and Meghan stepped away from their senior royal roles.
The family plans to stay for an "extended period of time" in the U.K., where Archie and Lilibet will attend school, according to a source familiar with the matter.
It is not known publicly where the Sussexes are living in the U.K. nor where Archie and Lilibet are enrolled in school.
Harry and Meghan have not commented publicly on their return to the U.K. Buckingham Palace has also not commented on their return.
ABC News previously learned that Harry's father, King Charles III, was informed of the couple's decision on Aug. 16, just days before news of the move was first reported.
A source familiar with the matter told ABC News that Charles is looking forward to seeing more of the family when they return to the U.K.
There is no plan for Harry and Meghan to return to their senior royal roles, according to the source.
When the couple stepped away from their senior royal roles in 2020, it was agreed that they would no longer use their Royal Highness titles, would no longer represent the monarch and would no longer receive public funds for royal duties, freeing them to earn money on their own.
