Prince Harry makes surprise visit to Ukraine
Prince Harry traveled to Ukraine in a surprise visit this week, his third trip to the country since the Russia-Ukraine war broke out in February 2022.
The Duke of Sussex attended the Kyiv Security Forum on Thursday, where he was a keynote speaker and called for an end to the ongoing war in a direct plea to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"President Putin, no nation benefits from the continued loss of life we are witnessing. There is still a moment -- now -- to stop this war, to prevent further suffering for Ukrainians and Russians alike, and to choose a different course," Harry said in part.
Harry, King Charles III's younger son, who now lives in California with his wife Meghan, also called for steadfast U.S. support for Ukraine.
"This is a moment for American leadership, a moment for America to show that it can honor its international treaty obligations, not out of charity, but out of its enduring role in global security and strategic stability," he added.
Harry was filmed Thursday morning arriving at a Kyiv station on an overnight passenger train from Poland.
According to Reuters, the Duke of Sussex is also expected to visit with Invictus Games participants during his trip, as well as the HALO Trust charity, which is dedicated to clearing landmines and other explosives left behind following global conflicts.
