'The Devil Wears Prada 2' teaser drops ahead of expected Oscars surprise
"The Devil Wears Prada 2" is officially out with a brand-new look.
Set to Madonna's song "Vogue," the new teaser out Thursday finds Meryl Streep back as Editor-in-Chief Miranda Priestly. She knocks impatiently on a hotel room door that belongs to Anne Hathaway's character, Andy Sachs.
"Pull yourself together, we have work to do. And by we, I mean you," Miranda says to Andy.
Later in the trailer, Miranda sits at the head of a meeting room table as her staff watches a video of models walking around in a variety of ensembles.
"And the models were encouraged to mill around like starving goats in the parking lot of a methadone clinic in New Jersey?" she says.
When someone in the room clears their throat in discomfort, Miranda adds, "What? What am I not allowed to say? 'Methadone?' 'New Jersey?'"
This teaser comes as Oscar producer Raj Kapoor hinted to ABC News' Chris Connelly that "The Devil Wears Prada" may be involved in a surprise Oscar moment, in a segment airing on "Good Morning America" on Friday.
"I think there's going to be a really great superhero moment that's going happen. There might be something fun with 'Devil Wears Prada.' And I think there's something really special planned for best picture," Kapoor said, listing potential surprises.
The 98th Oscars will be held Sunday, March 15, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The show will be broadcast live on ABC and stream on Hulu beginning at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
The original "The Devil Wears Prada" film, released in 2006, was adapted from the novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger.
The original film follows Hathaway's character, Andy, on her journey to fit in with the rest of the fashion industry after she is hired as a co-assistant to Streep's character Miranda, the editor-in-chief of the fictional fashion magazine Runway.
Plot details for the sequel have not yet been released.
"The Devil Wears Prada 2" will be released by 20th Century Studios in U.S. theaters May 1.
