AI-generated 'actress' Tilly Norwood making feature film debut in 'Misaligned'
The studio behind AI-generated "actress" Tilly Norwood has announced its creation will be "starring" in a new film.
AI-powered content studio Particle 6 announced Monday that the AI creation will star in the film "Misaligned," described in a press release as a "comedy-drama telling a coming-of-age story infused with existential AI chaos."
The film is in early development and has key collaborators attached, according to the press release.
"Misaligned" is set inside the "Tillyverse," a "surreal digital world located somewhere up in the Cloud," the production studio said.
The film "follows Tilly, an AI being with no real body, no childhood and no lived experience of her own… only access to everyone else's," according to a synopsis.

The synopsis continues, "Things spiral when a seductive rogue bot from the dark web convinces Tilly to abandon her guardrails and begin developing desires, impulses and ambitions of her own. The more terrifyingly human she becomes, the more famous she gets, and, significantly, Tilly begins to develop shame that her very being has been built on the whole of humanity."
Particle 6 founder Eline van der Velden said in a statement that the new project "will absolutely be funny, chaotic and self-aware -- very Tilly."
She added, "But underneath it, there's something deeper about identity, performance, and our very human fears around AI. And yes, art will most definitely be imitating life."
Particle 6 said the new film comes after months of "experimentation," which included AI test scenes featuring Tilly Norwood. According to the press release, the team behind the AI-powered content studio also faced questions around AI workflows and if it could support premium narrative filmmaking, if "emotionally engaging scripted drama" could be produced with "current-generation tools," and whether or not its AI creation could "carry a story as a lead."
The press release added that the process "drew in a growing group of entertainment industry professionals who approached Particle 6 to explore how traditional creative skills translate to AI production, including major Hollywood directors, costume designers and composers."
Van der Velden said in a statement that her goal with Tilly Norwood had "always been to show the creative industry what is possible with AI at any point in time."
She said Particle 6 aims to showcase new tools with its applications and help "traditional filmmakers who join the crew to upskill and transition to a world where AI will play an increasingly important part."
She added, "We remain passionate about helping people develop AI skills that will ensure they -- and the industry -- continue to thrive."
ABC News has reached out to SAG-AFTRA and Actors' Equity for comment.
News of the upcoming film comes four months after Tilly Norwood's creators released a music video featuring the AI creation appearing to sing a song addressing the public backlash to it.
Van der Velden addressed the backlash at the time and said that she believed people were "taking [Tilly Norwood] far too seriously."
"She's a bit of fun and I'm enjoying putting her out there," Van der Velden said then.
Van der Velden previously spoke with ABC News Live in December 2025, seeking to allay concerns that her AI creation would take away jobs from human actors and sharing how she believed Tilly Norwood could fit into the world of film.
"That's not what she's here for, and that's absolutely not my plan," Van Der Velden told ABC News' Kyra Phillips at the time, when asked about her past comments about wanting to make the AI creation "the next Scarlett Johansson or Natalie Portman."
She continued, "I think it's very important for the creative industries to take this tech and control it. I'm part of the creative industry, so I want us to be in control of the guidelines and the ethics around this and it not to be imposed by the tech industry."
